WHAT TO EXPECT
Our worship is ancient - it’s rooted in the practices of the early Church. Our worship is also contemporary - we believe that the Holy Spirit is actively guiding us in our own day and age. We rehearse, remember and inhabit the Great Salvation Story every time we gather in worship. God invites us in and each person has an important part to play. And at the heart of this wonderful story? Jesus Christ. We seek to know His life, to glorify His name and to enjoy the fellowship which He makes possible in our midst.
We use a mix of Biblical hymns sung to ancient melodies, contemporary praise songs, Anglican chant from the church of the Middle Ages and 20th century contemporary Christian songs.
Why the robes?
Originally, vestments (specific clothing worn only when people lead worship services) were worn by the clergy and others to blend in with those around them. A long time ago, people wore things more in line with tunics. Clergy and others didn’t want to bring attention to themselves so they wore vestments. So, why wear them today? Because we want to be both ancient and contemporary. These vestments are a way of staying connected to over 1000 years of church history.
