These are the 3 most important passages in Scripture for understanding what we are called to be about as God's Church.

Love

Matthew 22:37b-40: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

We are called to a life of love - an all-encompassing love of God and of neighbor.  This is the life that Jesus lived, and by his death, resurrection, and by the Holy Spirit we are empowered to love.

Life

Acts 2:42-47: "And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved."

This is a picture of what it means to deeply partake of life together.  We have the privilege and joy of journeying together through the ups, downs and in betweens of life.

Mission

Matthew 28:18-20: "And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

God has been on a mission since the creation of the world.  The whole story of salvation from Genesis to Revelation is about God's mission.  When we receive the grace of God through Jesus, we are called to join him on that mission of redeeming the world.
